Semyon Chuikov is the most significant figure in Kyrgyz painting. Thanks to Chuikov the first art gallery with the expositions of Kyrgyz artists was opened in the Kyrgyz Republic. The house-museum is unique storage of his enormous legacy. His works are presented not only in this museum but are included in the collection of permanent exhibitions of State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of Oriental Art in Moskow, Dresden Gallery, and other museums.
The house-museum of Chuikov was opened in 1987 for the 85th anniversary of his birth. The interior is kept just the way it was during his life. Chuikov lived and worked in the studio for thirty years this is why the museum still keeps the spirit of the artists.
The walls of the museum are decorated with sketches and his works. The museum also exhibits his awards; Chuikov got the Jawaharlal Nehru Award of International Understanding, he also became People’s Artist of the USSR and laureate of the State Prize of the USSR.
