Jizzakh

Jizzakh city, an administrative, economic, cultural and scientific centre, is located between the modern capital Tashkent and the ancient capital Samarkand on the river Sanzar.

According to the not confirmed fact of archaeologists, several sources indicate that Gazo city was situated between Tashkent and Samarkand cities. That is why it is possible to be the ancient name of the city Jizzakh. On the other hand, the name of Jizzakh means ‘a small fortress’ which is characterised its history.

Besides that, in the administrative center of Jizzakh region there are located "Jizzakh" modern railway station and Jizzak-2 cargo railway station. The total length of region roads is 2540 km, the length of its railways is 256 km. Additionally, there are 488 secondary schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, Pedagogical Institute, branch of Tashkent Polytechnic Institute, Higher Military Aviation School; as well as specialized sports and music schools, two theatres, four museums, three sanatoriums, 173 clubs, 302 libraries and 72 hospital facilities.

Moreover, the city is distinguished by its amazing nature, especially its mountainous landscapes and coniferous forests. The wildlife of city is rich and diverse.
