The Moon Mountains are located close to the village of Makhtumkuli, in the southeast of the Balkan region of Turkmenistan. It may really seem to the traveler that he/she is on the moon or on some mysterious planet - the surrounding landscape is so unusual! The mountains look extremely amazing: they have rounded, melted forms, pinkish-cream or gray - almost white color, which change after rain, and, depending on humidity, shimmer with almost all the colors of the rainbow. Rarely on their slopes, you can see a bush accidentally growing here, which gives the “alien” landscape a more typical look.
If you look at the surroundings from the top of the Karaelchi ridge, you will see that the whole area is completely covered with hills. But the most interesting view will be the area of the Moon Mountains. They are small hills from one to eight meters in height containing a very large amount of salt deposits and therefore lacking any vegetation.
Perhaps, it’s hard to find a person who has never dreamed to go on a space trip, to take several steps on an unknown planet. In the old days, only astronauts could realize this dream, today - space tourists. But still there are only a few of them. However, to admire, for example, lunar landscapes it is not necessary to leave the Earth. You just need to plan your trip to Turkmenistan.
